EDUCATION/OUTREACH

Transgender Community of Police and Sheriffs

Description:
Members of TCOPS, Transgender Community of Police & Sheriffs, span the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. We are patrol officers, deputies, federal officers, detectives, supervisors, reserve officers, support staff, and retired officers.

The purpose of TCOPS is to provide information, education, support, and networking opportunities to members of the police community dealing with transsexualism behind the badge.

TCOPS was born out of the efforts of Dr. Tom Whetstone's study on transsexual cops in the workplace. His work brought together deputies and police officers throughout the country. Dr. Whetstone continues to provide his support and insight into our community.

TCOPS also offers support to police administrators through LEARIC - Law Enforcement Administrator's Information and Committee. LEARIC is comprised of law enforcement professionals from local, state and federal services, researchers and allied healthcare professionals with the mission of educating, informing and assisting law enforcement officers and executives dealing with issues related to transsexualism and transsexual employees.
